SKIING

Notwithstanding the low height of the mountains Sweden has still mighty ski resorts where you can ski with enough challenge. Besides this the prices of the ski-passes in Dalarna are much lower than in the Alps.
Romme Alpin at Borlänge and Bjursås SkiCenter near Falun are the two largest ski resorts in the surroundings of Sifferbo.
Both ski resorts certainly have snow, because they use snow machines. The ski season runs from half December until the end of March.

Romme Alpin

Romme Alpin is one of the largest ski resorts of Sweden with many ski possibilities, but there are no cross-country ski possibilities.
In total there are 12 lifts (among others two 6 persons chair lifts) and 23 slopes (from green to black). Besides this there is a Juniorpark, a snowboard-skipark.

Ski material for skiing and snowboarding can be hired, this can be booked on-line. And of course there is a ski school, for all ages and ski levels. Furthermore there are the following facilities: a ski shop, two restaurants, a warmed room where you can rest, eat and drink and on the top of the mountain a real restaurant.

The ski resort is located 10 km south of Borlänge and less than a half hour car drive from our park.

Bjursås SkiCenter

Bjursås SkiCenter is one of Sweden's smaller resorts, with a traditional typically friendly Swedish character.
It offers a perfect ski experience with a charming and relax ambiance, without the usual crowds that frequent the larger resorts.

This ski resort is especially suitable for families with children. There is enough challenging down-hill action for the expert skiers and offers also many possibilities for the beginners.

In total there are 7 lifts (1 chair lift and 6 towing lifts) and 20 slopes (from green to black). The slopes are suitable for down-hill skiing, snowboarding and telemark-skiing.
Besides this there is a great (which stretches over an area of 14,000 square meters) and fantastic snowboard park (Soulpark – Dreampark), one of Sweden's best snowboard parks.

There are a lot of possibilities for cross-country skiing; smaller tracks of 1.5 and 3.5 km at the ski resort and on a distance of 10 km there is a large cross-country ski area with tracks of 5 to 18 km and also a lighted track.
At this area is a parking place, a warmed room where you can rest and eat and drink something and a dressing room with showers.

And of course there is a ski school, for all ages and ski levels.
Children below the age of 8 can ski for free if they are in company of an adult with a ski-pass and these children must wear a helmet.
Furthermore there are the following facilities: a ski shop, a fast-food restaurant and a real restaurant where you can have a delicious lunch. For groups there is a possibility to make snowmobile safari’s.

Bjursas SkiCenter is located 25 km north of Falun, a 3/4 hour car drive, from our park.

Other ski resorts
Leksand has also a small ski resort, called Granberget. Here are 3 lifts and 5 runs and cross-country skiing possibilities.
This ski resort is perfect for beginners and families with young children.
