WINTERACTIVITIES

Sweden and especially Dalarna are perfect opportunities for winter holidays. Dalarna has still real winters with snow and ice.
In the surroundings of Sifferbo Stugby is a lot of winter fun in the snow and on the ice possible.
The fascinating nature offers a lot of possibilities for all sorts of outdoor activities, such as skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ice skating and ice fishing.

Ice skating
For those who like to skate on natural ice there are plenty of possibilities on several lakes in the surroundings.
What do you think of making a beautiful long-distance ice skating tour on Lake Runn, located between Borlänge and Falun on a 20 minutes car drive from our park.
Besides this there are on Lake Runn large open ice spaces for ice sailing, cozy stops on the lakeside and many places where you can magnificent ice-fishing.
The Runn Winter Week, the big yearly hold ice-skating event on Lake Runn, is in 2012 from the 3^rd till the 19^th of February.

Skiing
For those who like skiing there are slopes with enough challenge at Borlänge (Romme Alpin), at Bjursås (Bjursås SkiCenter) and at Leksand (Granberget). The prices of the ski-passes are low with regard to the Alps.
Romme Alpin (12 lifts, 23 slopes and a snowboardpark) is less than a half hour car drive from our park.
Bjursås SkiCenter (7 lifts, 20 slopes and a fantastic snowboardpark) is more than a half hour car drive from our park.

Cross-country skiing
Furthermore, there are plenty possibilities for cross-country skiing, in the direct neighbourhood of our park, but also close to Borlänge (at Gyllbergen and Bergebo), there are beautiful cross-country tracks.
At 400 m from our stugby is a cross-country track of 3,5 km, which is also luminated.

Snowshoe walking
In the surroundings of our park are very many walking trails. These are very suitable for snowshoe walking during winter time with a lot of snow. You can make several tours of different length and strength and hereby you are walking through the beautiful snowy forests and hills.

Of course you can also ice-fishing on one of the many lakes in the area, for example on lake Svartjärn.

Vasaloppet

The Vasaloppet is the large cross-country ski event for the Swedish. This event is organized each year on the first Sunday of March. The competition goes over a distance of 90 km from Sälen to Mora in Dalarna. About 16,000 people are joining this and it’s a great happening for Sweden. Especially the very massive start is a whole show-piece.
Mora is located 85 km from our park, this is about a 1,25 car drive. From here you can take a bus to Sälen, the starting point.
Besides this are being organized all kind of other competitions for cross-country skiing in the week before the Vasaloppet, like the Kortvasan. This is a competition of 30 km over a part of the Vasaloppet, from Oxberg to Mora.
The Öppet spårat goes over the whole distance of 90 km and is specially for whom who are not a member of a sporting club.

At the finish in Mora the competitors are going under a special arch, with the motto:
-- In the footsteps of our forefathers for the victories of tomorrow. --.
At this arch you will find the Vasaloppsmuseum, where you can see for example a very nice film about the Vasaloppet.

Snowmobile driving

Also making of snowmobile tours are possible. At Bjursås SkiCenter you can make a snowmobile safari. A tour of 1.5 hour costs 670 SEK per snowmobile, max. 2 persons per snowmobile.
